Biography

Darryl Thompson (5'8", 175) enters his first season with the Shock after playing for the IFL, NAL and the Fall Experimental Football League (IFXL), a professional football minor league that served as a potential feeder system to the NFL. In 2016, Thompson played for the Spokane Empire of the IFL during the team's 13-5 season. Thompson played in two games for Empire on special teams, returning 3 kicks for 49 yards, his longest came from a 27 yard return. Prior to the IFL, Thompson spent two seasons with the Florida Blacktips of the IFXL from 2014-2015 before the team suspended operation.

Thompson began his college career at Hudson Valley Community College. During his time at Hudson Valley he played in 7 games as a wide receiver recording 15 catches for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Thompson also became a threat in the run game, rushing on seven carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Following his sophomore year, Thompson transferred to Texas A&M Commerce where he spent his junior year before finishing his college career at the College of Brockport. In 2013 as a senior, Thompson hauled in 21 catches for 516 yards and three TDs.

Thompson is a native of Rochester, NY where he played football and track for Marshall High School. During his senior year, he had 21 catches for 445 yards and five touchdowns. In track he set the school record for the 60 meter dash.
